The goal of respite care is to improve the quality of life of child cancer patients and their families by helping to alleviate the burden on parents who take care of the children during the treatment. Parents or care-givers, who need to take a break from this full-time role to attend to personal affairs or who need to be away from home, can apply for the respite service for patients under 18 and their siblings.
The staff team of the Respite Care and Rehabilitation Centre provides comprehensive day care services for the children, attending to their individual needs. The children can also join the activities organised by the Centre. If the children need special nursing care, please contact us in advance at +852 2319 1396.
The Respite Care and Rehabilitation Centre is located at Units 1-5, Ground Floor, Block 9, Pak Tin Estate, Kowloon. The service hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Saturdays. If the children need special nursing care, please contact us in advance at +852 2319 1396.
Those parents who are interested in the service can contact the nurses in the ward or the staff of the Foundation. An application form has to be completed. After the receipt of the application forms, CCF staff members will contact the parents shortly for a preliminary assessment. Respite care service is available by referral and appointment on a first- come first-serve basis.
The CCF respite care service is free of charge.
The Centre provides simple meals to the children. If they require special meals, parents should provide the meals and the necessary food containers/utensils.
